MADISON, Wis. — Police are looking for two men who beat a person until they were unconscious during an incident in downtown Madison.

According to an incident report, the suspects were strangers to the victim.

Authorities said the victim was with a group of friends in the 600 block of Langdon Street around 11:30 p.m Thursday when the two suspects approached the group. When the victim and their friends walked away from the suspects toward Lake Street, one of the suspects reportedly tackled the victim into the roadway.

Police said a “scuffle” then broke out between the suspects and the victim. Bystanders and the victim’s friends broke up the fight by pulling the suspects off.

As the victim and their friends tried walking away again, the suspect wearing the blue Cubs jersey got in front of the victim while the one wearing a white Toon jersey approached the victim from behind and put them into a chokehold.
