A pedestrian was injured Friday after walking into traffic that had a green light, Madison police said.

The 59-year-old Madison man suffered a possible broken leg after walking into traffic around 7:35 p.m. on East Washington Avenue at Thierer Road, according to a release.

A 25-year-old Madison man was driving a car that struck the 59-year-old, who was in a crosswalk, police said.

The driver stayed with the pedestrian until paramedics and police arrived.

The pedestrian was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
