MPD: Man shot in arm in furniture store parking lot
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police said a 31-year-old Dane County man suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting near the Beltline Thursday night.
Police responded to reports of people shooting at each other around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Todd Drive and the Beltline.
Officials said the victim was sitting in the driver’s seat of an SUV that was parked in the lot outside of Steinhafel’s when another man approached the SUV on foot and fired at least one round.
When a bullet hit the 31-year-old in the arm, he hit the accelerator and the SUV crashed into a light pole, investigators said.
According to a release, the man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said a passenger in the vehicle was not injured, and there have been no other injuries or property damage reported.
According to the release, there wasn’t any suspect information early Friday morning.
Police said the individuals involved in the shooting may have known each other and it was not a random act.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Crimestoppers or dispatch.
