A Northport Drive apartment complex maintenance worked locked himself in an office and called 911 Thursday afternoon after seeing a young man waving a handgun in a parking lot, police said.

According to an incident report, the young man with the handgun was in a parking lot where two groups of teens were getting ready to fight.

When the police arrived, they said all involved fled the area. Surveillance video captured most of the incident and showed the confrontation. Police said the dispute ended when the weapon is brought out, causing people to flee on foot or in cars.

Officers will review the video

“with hopes of identifying the gunman.”
