MPD: Drunk driver admits to officer he shouldn’t be driving
De Pere man's BAC was 0.16 percent
MADISON, Wis. — A De Pere man who admitted to an officer that he should not be driving was arrested for his eighth drunken-driving offense Tuesday, Madison police said.
A citizen reported that an intoxicated driver was trying to leave a parking lot in the 1800 block of Aberg Avenue around 1:40 p.m.
An officer was able to stop the driver a short distance away, according to the release. When the officer made contact with the driver, David M. Farrington, 48, he could smell a strong odor of alcohol.
The officer asked Farrington if he thought he should be driving, and he said ‘No,’ police said.
Field sobriety tests were conducted, and Farrington was arrested on a tentative charge of eight-offense operating while intoxicated.
Officials said he had a blood alcohol content of 0.16 percent.
