MPD: Car windows found broken on multiple cars on Williamson Street, police locate suspect
MADISON, Wis. — An eyewitness called for police early Thursday morning at 5:15 a.m. after watching a man smash out a car window on Williamson Street.
When officers responded, a release said they noticed other parked cars with similar damage. After a suspect description from the witness, officers located 55-year-old Dennis J. O’Brien. O’Brien is known to law enforcement for breaking into vehicles.
Police said he was found covered in shards of glass. He had a GPS unit, coins and other items, including a pipe to smoke drugs, in his pockets.
O’Brien spit at officers, and they put a spit hood over his head, police said. He was taken to jail on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting and a probation hold. Day shift officers are working to contact victims. The release said it is likely there will be additional tentative charges.
