Mount Horeb to host 150+ artists at 50th annual art fair this weekend
After a one-year hiatus, the Mount Horeb Art Fair is back on Main Street for its 50th year.
After a one-year hiatus, the Mount Horeb Art Fair is back on Main Street welcoming guests to meet artists from around the Unites States for its 50th year.
According to a release, the Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce canceled the fair in July 2020 when COVID-19 numbers were high. As restrictions have eased and vaccinations rates continue to climb, the group decided to host the event this year.
The Mount Horeb Art Fair showcases more than 150 artists from around the U.S., including local artists. The artists represent different mediums including painting, sculpture, woodwork and jewelry. Xizhou Xie, who was included in the July issue of Madison Magazine as the featured maker, will be showing her art at the event.
“We have such great fine artists and crafters that come year after year to our show,” says Tiffany King, executive director of the Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce.
King says half of the artists and crafters decided to defer their registration as opposed to ask for a refund, which helped the chamber keep their doors open and continue to host the event. “We are very grateful to those who deferred or donated their fees,” King says.
The Mount Horeb Art Fair will close Main Street in downtown Mount Horeb for the two days of the event. In addition to the artists, there will be live music, food trucks, local deals from Main Street businesses and a silent auction raising funds for an art scholarship that will be hosted online. The scholarship is given to a graduating Mount Horeb senior.
The art fair will take place Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
