Mount Horeb Area School District introduces Plaid Umbrella Project

Mount Horeb Area School District introduces Plaid Umbrella Project

A new partnership between the Mount Horeb Area School District and the Mount Horeb Mental Health & Wellness Coalition aims to improve mental health care access for students.

A new program called the Plaid Umbrella Project will try to expand understanding and provide ways to improve mental wellness.

Last summer, two young people in Mount Horeb died by suicide and a 10-year-old was also investigated as a possible suicide.

Officials said the project’s logo is symbolic of its mission.

The green stripes represent those who live with mental illness while the blue and orange stripes symbolize support from the school district and the coalition.

The project is trying to tackle goals put into place at a community forum last August.
