Motorcyclist killed while attempting to flee deputy identified
Officials believe speed, alcohol were factors in crash
HORICON, Wis. — The driver of a motorcycle that fled a Dodge County deputy and died after hitting a power pole Saturday night is identified as Jerred Gerlach, 22, of Horicon, according to a release.
Around 11:45 p.m., a Dodge County deputy attempted to stop the motorcycle, but it fled at a high rate of speed, deputies said. Less than a minute later, the motorcycle left the roadway and hit a power pole near the intersection on St. Helena and Fox roads.
Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, according to the release.
Gerlach was the only occupant of the motorcycle. He was killed in the crash, deputies said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.St. Helena Road and Fox Road, Dodge County
