Motorcyclist crashes into turning tractor, deputies say
A motorcyclist was injured in a crash with a tractor in Green County Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
Donald V. Hoesly, 71, of Brooklyn, was driving a tractor east on Highway 92 when a motorcycle, also going east, started passing him on him on his left, according to the release.
Hoesly had started turning into a private driveway when the motorcyclist, 24-year-old Harrison P. Halaska, of Brooklyn, started passing the tractor, investigators said. Halaska laid down the motorcycle, which collided with the tractor.
Halaska was taken to a hospital, according to the release. He was wearing a helmet.
His motorcycle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene, officials said. Hoesly was not injured in the crash. His tractor sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.
Halaska was cited for unsafe passing and operating with no motorcycle endorsement.
