More than 20 vehicles found with windows smashed out, Madison police say

MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are looking for a group of teenagers who smashed out windows on numerous vehicles Tuesday morning.

According to the Madison Police Department, officers responded to a report of teenagers checking car doors around 2:30 a.m. near Maple Grove and Mader drives.

Police found more than 20 vehicles with smashed windows in both outdoor and underground parking lots. Authorities didn’t immediately have information about the value of any items stolen.

One MPD official called the string of crimes “unusual” for Madison and said the department is investigating with a greater sense of urgency because of it.

Witnesses told people they saw a black SUV related to the group.

Police said similar incidents were reported in other areas of the city, but it’s unclear if they’re related.
