Jefferson man faces charges following chase in Monona

A Rio man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a Monona hotel Friday.

Jason J. Prochot, 32, was arrested Tuesday by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department, according to a release.

Monona police said officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at 9:43 p.m. Friday at the AmericInn Hotel & Suites, 101 W. Broadway. The robber entered the business with a knife and demanded money from the hotel clerk.

The suspect was described as a white man who fled on foot eastbound, toward Monona Drive, with an undisclosed amount of cash. A K-9 track was attempted in the area, but the suspect was not located, police said.
