Monnie J. Felton

Monnie J. Felton

MADISON-Monnie J. Felton, age 78, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012. She was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Richland Center, the daughter of Bernard and Genevieve Kinyon.

Not long after graduating from Richland Center High School, she married the love of her life, Marvin Felton on July 6, 1953, and started a partnership of caring and compassion that touched hundreds of lives. While Monnie loved sharing her faith in Jesus Christ with family and friends, her deeds even more than her words showed what it meant to be a true Christian. Over the years, she and Marv took in AFS students, foster children and many others—whether they needed a meal, a bed or simply the reassurance of her warmth and smile. She loved people and celebrated life every day, meeting friends for coffee, making fudge for family, or dancing with whomever could keep up. In her 19 years as a stenographer for the Madison Police Department she was also known for her big heart and boundless optimism. While we know she is in a better place, her passing leaves a void in this world that is not easily filled.

Monnie is survived by Marvin, her husband of 59 years; her children, Amy (Tony) Puccio, Celeste (Avery) Manning, Dawn (Jon Joseph) Felton, Dennis Felton, Mark (Janet) Felton, and Marvel (Jim Schuler) Felton; ten grandchildren, Sam, Zoe, Chelsea, Britney, Tyler, Jordan, Aryana, Hunter, Nakoha, and Jenny Sue; sister, Shirley (Ray) Sailsbery; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Buddy.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012, with the Rev. Francis Jones presiding. Entombment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
