Missouri town gets new newspaper – The Uranus Examiner

A small Missouri town has a new newspaper, and its name is guaranteed to make people giggle – though not everyone is impressed.

KYTV reported The Uranus Examiner’s launch on Wednesday, days after GateHouse Media announced it would close the county’s paper, the Daily Guide.

Natalie Sanders, who left the Daily Guide, said she decided to start a “fun” paper that will report local news and promote the town, which is a tourist destination along Route 66 and is known for quirky attractions that include the “world’s largest belt buckle.”

However, the mayor of neighboring Waynesville, which was home to the Daily Guide, said she thinks the new publication’s name will bring “public ridicule.”
