Missing Cumberland woman believed to be victim in deadly Douglas Co. crash
CUMBERLAND, Wis. — Authorities believe a woman found dead after a deadly crash in Douglas County is likely a missing Cumberland woman who hasn’t been seen or heard from since earlier this month.
Hailey Anderson, 43, was reported missing on Friday. According to a statewide missing person alert, she was last seen on Sept. 16 leaving a Casino in Turtle Lake.
Authorities said that on the day Anderson went missing she made a “frantic” phone call to a friend saying her boyfriend had hit her. She has not been heard from since.
Anderson was reportedly traveling to family in Minnesota but never made it to her destination.
According to an updated alert, Anderson’s vehicle, which was found on Monday, was involved in a crash on Sept. 16 in Douglas County. Authorities said a woman was found dead at the scene.
That woman has not been officially identified, but law enforcement said they believe her to be Anderson.
