Minor injuries reported after train-semi crash in Oconomowoc
OCONOMOWOC, Wis. — Authorities say no serious injuries were reported when a freight train struck a semitrailer in Oconomowoc and scattered debris around the area and caused damage to windows of a nearby restaurant.
The Journal Sentinel reports that the crash happened around 8 a.m. Friday near Maxim’s restaurant. Law enforcement says six people were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
City spokesman Ron Buerger says the semi got hung up on an island by the tracks and the train split the flatbed trailer in half. Buerger says the train was carrying denatured alcohol but there were no hazardous material leaks.
Maxim’s manager Sue Thelen says “there’s debris everywhere” and describes the scene as a “war zone.”
