Minnesota women’s basketball stops Wisconsin

Kenisha Bell scored 24 points to lead Minnesota to a 90-65 win over Wisconsin in a Big Ten women’s basketball game in Minneapolis Thursday night.

Bell was one of five Gophers to score in double figures. Destiny Pitts had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Taiye Bello had 13 points and 13 rebounds..

Minnesota (15-5 overall, 4-3 Big Ten) led 59-33 at halftime.

Cayla McMorris scored a season-high 23 points to lead the Badgers. Courtney Fredrickson had 15, Suzanne Gilreath scored 12.

Marsha Howard added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Badgers.

Wisconsin (7-13 overall, 0-7 Big Ten) lost its eighth straight game.

The Badgers host Northwestern Sunday at 4:30 pm at the Kohl Center.
