Minnesota downs Badger women, 65-50
Banham's 19 points lead Gophers to win
MADISON — The Big Ten’s leading scorer, Rachel Banham, scored 19 points to lead the Minnesota Golden Gophers women’s basketball team to a 65-50 win over the Wisconsin Badgers at the Kohl Center Wednesday night.
Minnesota opened the game with a 17-5 run and led at halftime 25-16.
The Badgers closed to within four points, 43-39 in the second half, but could get no closer.
Amanda Zahui scored 17 points for Minnesota as she made 8 of her 11 field goal attempts.
Taylor Wurtz led Wisconsin with 15 points as the Badgers shot only 33 percent from the field.
Minnesota is now 16-9 overall and 5-6 in the Big Ten while Wisconsin is 10-14 overall and 3-9 in the Big Ten.
