Milwaukee police continue search for missing UWM student near Milwaukee River
MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Police with the University of Wisconsin — Milwaukee are continuing to search for a freshman student who was last seen leaving a residence hall early Friday morning.
Officials said Sean Baek and another student were using LSD early Friday morning when the other student began reacting badly to the drug. Baek was seen running out of a residence hall at 2323 N. Cambridge Ave. at 1:25 a.m. According to a news release, an eyewitness saw a person run toward the riverbank near the residence hall at the same time Baek was seen leaving the dorm.
Baek reportedly sent a text message to a family member at 1:20 a.m. saying “I love you guys, I am so sorry.”
“I hope he’s alive, but as a police department, we’re obviously exploring all of that because even if someone in a tragedy is deceased, we need to find them,” UW-Milwaukee Police Department Chief Joel LeMire said during a Monday news conference.
Anyone with information about Baek’s location is asked to contact UWM police at 414-229-4627 or the Milwaukee Police Department at 414-935-7211.
