Milwaukee officer shoots, kills robbery suspect
Police say suspect was wanted on several warrants
MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police said an officer shot and killed an armed robbery suspect Saturday.
The officer responded Saturday afternoon to a report of an armed robbery. The suspect was trying to flee in a vehicle but crashed, then ran from the scene.
Police said the officer tried to conduct a field interview of the suspect but that during the encounter, the officer feared for his life and discharged his weapon.
Police said the suspect was a 28-year-old man from Germantown. They did not release his name but said he was on probation and wanted on several warrants.
The 39-year-old officer is a 15-year veteran of the Milwaukee force. He has been placed on standard administrative leave. Police did not say why the officer felt threatened.
