Milwaukee Officer Shoots, Injures Man With Gun

A Milwaukee police sergeant is on administrative duty after he shot a man who authorities said refused to drop a shotgun.

Police said the sergeant and an officer were called to a report of a man threatening his girlfriend with a shotgun early Sunday. They found the 27-year-old suspect and ordered him to drop the weapon, but he did not.

Police said the 55-year-old sergeant fired his handgun to stop the threat, and hit the man.

The suspect was treated at Froedtert Hospital and was released into police custody. No one else was injured.

The sergeant has 30 years of service with the Milwaukee Police Department. He’s on administrative duty while the incident is investigated.
