Milwaukee, Madison bask in record warmth for late February
Wisconsin is basking in balmy weather at the end of February. But snowy weather is about to make a return.
The National Weather Service says Milwaukee and Madison both broke more than century-old record highs for Sunday.
In Milwaukee, the temperature reached 61 degrees, breaking the old record of 54 set in 1895.
Madison soared to 58 degrees. That breaks the previous record of 56, also set in 1895.
But forecasters say a cold front will bring gusty northwest winds and cooler weather back to Wisconsin Sunday evening. There is a chance of snow both Monday and Tuesday. Highs Monday will only be near 30 except near Lake Michigan, where highs should reach the mid to upper 30s.
