Milwaukee FBI chief reassigned, investigated

Court records show the head of the Milwaukee FBI has been reassigned and is under investigation for trying to influence a subordinate’s testimony in a lawsuit against the agency.

The records say Teresa Carlson is under investigation by the Office of Inspector General for allegedly telling an agent last April that it would be in his best interest to “come down on the side of the government” in the lawsuit filed by an Army veteran who was denied a job with the agency because of a disability.

The Journal Sentinel reported Carlson has been reassigned to FBI headquarters. Carlson refused to testify in the case last month in a federal courtroom in Virginia. She told the judge she was under investigation and wanted to consult an attorney.

The FBI Milwaukee office did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
