Milwaukee Brewers launch PSA urging people to ‘Crush COVID’ with vaccine
MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers are launching a public service announcement with several players getting the COVID vaccine and urging others to do the same.
Featuring players like Christian Yelich, Brent Suter, Freddy Peralta and Keston Hiura, the PSA shows players getting the vaccine.
“We want as many people to possible to decide to get vaccinated here in Milwaukee. And that decision is easier when family members, friends and favorite Brewers players are setting an example,” Mayor Tom Barrett said. “I appreciate the cooperation from the team and from all the partners who are working to crush COVID.”
President of Baseball Operations David Stearns says members of the team were vaccinated over the weekend, but did not provide details on how many players and staff chose to get the vaccine. However, Stearns said “a good chunk” of the roster got the vaccine over the weekend and the effort will continue in the coming weeks.
Stearns said the team got the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Major League Baseball says organizations that reach 85% vaccination rates will have COVID restrictions relaxed during the season.
