Milton H. Fischer
Milton H. Fischer, age 91, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.
He was born on Feb. 7, 1927, in Staten Island, New York, the son of Harold and Annita (Stoddard) Fischer. Milton was united in marriage to Jean Miller on January 3, 1951 in Maplewood, New Jersey.
She preceded him in death in 2014. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Milton was a University of Minnesota graduate, earning in PhD in Biochemistry. He was a distinguished member of the Wisconsin Central Center Research Department for over 23 years and was also affiliated with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Milton was committed to his research work and volunteered for over 20 years right up until his death. Milton and his wife were active members of Middleton Community Church for 24 years. Milton served for over a decade as both a member and President of the Middleton Baseball Commission. An avid baseball fan, he thoroughly enjoyed coaching Little League and competing in local, regional and state tournaments. Both Milton and Jean enjoyed bowling. For over 20 years they bowled at Middleton Sport Bowl in the Saturday evening Couples League and Milton also bowled in the Thursday night Middleton Businessmen’s League.
Milton is survived by his children; Wendy (Mike) Kohn and Peter (Monica) Fischer; two grandchildren, Alexander and Grant Fischer and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 6101 University Ave., Middleton at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, with the Reverend Harold Zimmick presiding. Burial will be in Middleton Junction Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton from 4 PM until 7 PM on Monday, April 2, 2018 and also on Tuesday at the church from 10 AM until the time of the service.
