One size smaller than a camper van is an overland trailer like the one Tyler Marklein just bought.

Marklein, co-founder of Carebot Health, is a serial business concept creator who is not standing idly by as the camper craze continues. He hopes to rent out the lightweight trailer (after he tests it out himself with his young family), which features a rooftop tent and spots to bring your bikes and paddleboards along for the trip.

It’s the first of what he hopes to be several trailers-for-rent on his new website, midwestadventurerigs.com. It’s a pretty niche product, he notes, but great for campers who basically just want to get a tent off the ground.

“It’s just no fuss. It’s a simple set-up,” he says. The trailer is a good starter for the novice camper who doesn’t want to rent, tow or store a big motor home right out of the gate. “I know that there’s demand for it,” he says. “I’ve talked to plenty of people who just want to get away for a weekend.”
