Middleton-Cross Plains names new superintendent

The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District named a new superintendent at a meeting Monday night.

Dr. George Mavroulis will take over the job effective July 1, according to a release. Mavroulis has worked in the MCPASD as an administrator since 1992.

The Board of Education unanimously approved Mavroulis to replace Dr. Don Johnson, who will retire on June 30 after nine years as superintendent, officials said.

“I am truly honored to be selected to lead the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District,” Mavroulis said in the release. “The Board of Education has been extremely supportive of me and I look forward to working with them to ensure that we continue to provide an exceptional learning experience for all of our students.”

Mavroulis served as assistant superintendent for educational services for 13 years before moving to his new role as deputy superintendent last year, according to the release.
