Michael A. Napstad
Michael A. Napstad, age 55, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012. He was born on July 18, 1957, the son of Gaylord and JoDeen (Gest) Napstad. Mike graduated from LaFollette High School in 1975 and married his high school sweetheart, Susan Bessel, on May 22, 1976. He worked for the University of Wisconsin physical plant for over 25 years where he made many lasting friendships for which he was very grateful. Mike loved living on Lake Waubesa where he enjoyed boating with friends and family. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church for many years. Mike’s great joy in life was the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Mike is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sue; daughter, Tammy (Bryan) Lewis; grandchildren, Jacob, Paige, and another on the way; brother, Tom (Ellen) Napstad; niece, Abby; nephew, Brandon, all of Rocky Point, N.Y.; and mother-in-law, Shirley Bessel; his best canine companion, Heather. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Walter Bessel.
Funeral services will be held at ST. STEPHENS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, with Rev. Tim Hansen presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, as well as at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
