MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Fire Department met with University of Wisconsin-Madison security and UWPD on Friday night regarding a small fire on campus.

An incident report said a security guard reported smelling smoke from a building on the 1600 block of Linden Drive just before 6 p.m. Officials said fire alarms sounded off as the guard was about to re-enter the building.

A worker joined the firefighters and led them to the building’s basement where the fire was believed to be. Officials found a small fire and knocked it down with two and a half gallons of water.

The room sustained heat and smoke damage, but no one was hurt. The department ventilated the basement and has continued to investigate the cause of the fire.
