Mertz released from hospital, status unknown moving forward

MADISON, Wis. — Badgers quarterback Graham Mertz was released from the hospital Saturday afternoon after suffering a chest injury during Wisconsin’s loss to No. 14 Michigan.

A team spokesperson said Mertz was taken to a local hospital for “further evaluation.”

He said his status moving forward has yet to be determined.

Backup quarterback Chase Wolf finished the game for the Badgers, completing 3 of 8 passes for 52 yards and 1 touchdown.

Mertz finished the day 8 for 15 with 115 yards and one touchdown.
