Merrimac ferry closes temporarily due to ice
DOT officials expect ferry to reopen after weather warns up
MERRIMAC, Wis. — The Merrimac ferry is closed temporarily due to ice on the Wisconsin River, according to a release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The ferry serves as Highway 113 between Columbia and Sauk counties.
Officials expect the ferry to resume operations after a warming trend that is forecast for the next three to five days.
Flashing lights in the area are activated to notify travelers of the temporary closure, according to the release. The lights are at Highway 60 and Interstate 90/94, highways 19 and 113, highways 78 and 113, Highway 78 and Interstate 39/94, and Highway 12 and County Road K.
