Merlyn F. Clark
Merlyn F. Clark, age 74 of Monroe, died Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital following a long illness. Merlyn was born December 26, 1939 in Clarno Township, the son of Frank E. and Reva (Drake) Clark. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1957 and farmed on the home farm in Clarno Township until 2000. He married Joanne Schindler on June 9, 1973 in Monroe. Merlyn was a long time member of the Clarno Zion United Methodist Church. He was an avid arrowhead and morel mushroom hunter and bowled on numerous teams for 55 years. He also enjoyed reading western paperbacks and was a big Green Bay Packer fan.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Clark; a son, Ryan (Stephanie) Clark; a granddaughter, Sara Clark, all of Clarno Township; three sisters, Carol Herrli of Brodhead, Joyce D. Fey of Monroe, and Alice (Richard) Briggs of Oneco, IL; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Merlyn Clark in 2002; a brother-in-law, Warner Herrli; and a niece, Everly Herrli.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Reverend Inwha Shon officiating. Interment will be in the East Clarno Church Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Clarno Zion United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Merlyn’s name for the Clarno Zion United Methodist Church.
