Memory Maker

hen it comes to romantic movies, it’s hard to beat An Affair to Remember, the 1957 film starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. That love story inspired a drink by the same name at The Icon, a restaurant and tapas bar that pays homage to classic Hollywood through its décor and cocktail menu.

General manager Travis Splan says An Affair to Remember has been on the menu since the restaurant opened on State Street in the fall of 2007. It’s been a hit from the start—especially among the female clientele. “It’s definitely more of a women’s drink, a dessert kind of cocktail,” he says.

The pretty pink libation is a decadent mix of raspberry and chocolate flavors thanks to the main ingredients of Skyy raspberry vodka and Godiva chocolate liqueur.

The Icon is a romantic destination, Splan says, and An Affair to Remember is an ideal drink for a guy to send over to a girl who’s caught his eye. The gesture might just spark a brand-new affair to remember. And if not, at least she’d have a drink to remember.
