What is your favorite part about living in Madison?

The uniqueness of this city. There are things here that you won’t find anywhere else in the world – the Union Terrace, State Street, the capitol, all those quirky pubs on the near east side. We’re so lucky to live in a place with endless character.

What is the biggest news story that you've covered?

While working at The Badger Herald, I extensively covered the 2011 protests and ensuing 2012 recall elections. It was a very interesting time in Wisconsin, to say the least - I’ve never seen so much emotion in politics before.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Anything that involves the outdoors, good food and family.

What is your favorite kind of ice cream?

Anything with chocolate and peanut butter. I love chocolate and peanut butter.

What is your favorite place to vacation?

The ultimate Wisconsin gal, I’m quite the “stay-cationer.” I love heading back home to Highland to spend time with my parents, little brother and grandmother. Otherwise, a quick jaunt up to Wisconsin Dells is a close second.

Who is your hero and why?

My dad. He’s the strong, silent type, and everything I want to become as I get older. He means the world to me.

What was your favorite band when you were in high school?

I’m a huge country music fan, so you could find me jamming in my car to any singer or band in that genre – from the tried and true Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney to the break-out artists like Eric Church and Taylor Swift (though I’m a little less of a fanatic now that she’s abandoned her country roots).

What is your favorite sport to play or watch?

Baseball all the way - I am a hardcore Brewers fan, even through the rough seasons. I only wish we still had George Kottaras catching for us; he had such a good on-base percentage.

If you could possess one superhuman power, what would it be?

I would like to be able to read people’s emotions and what drives them to do the things they do.

What are you really bad at that you'd love to be great at?

I’m a terrible snowboarder – no matter how hard I try to stay upright, it has yet to happen. Guess I’ll stick with the skis.

What is your most memorable travel experience?

My senior year of college, I visited Israel with a group of student journalists to study the conflict there. It was the most beautiful place I’ve ever been, and the most emotional. The people there feel so strongly about everything – from politics to war to family to religion – and I absolutely love that. I love passion.
