ME: No ‘significant inflicted trauma’ on body found in Janesville park

No “significant inflicted trauma” was found on a body found in a Janesville park Monday morning, according to a release from the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Janesville police were called to Lustig Park around 11:30 a.m. after the body was found.

Police said Lustig Park closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic around 11:30 a.m. The park was reopened Monday afternoon.

Officers said the body of 26-year-old Whitney Carlson, of Madison, was found about 40 yards off the river bank on the west end of the park.

Preliminary findings do not indicate any suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, according to the release.

The death remains under investigation.

The death investigation is separate from the investigation of a body found Sunday in the Rock River.
