McCain, Graham hosting fundraiser for Thompson
Reception scheduled for Wednesday night
MADISON, Wis. — Two prominent U.S. senators are hosting a fundraiser for Republican Tommy Thompson in his race against Democrat Tammy Baldwin for Wisconsin’s open Senate seat.
South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham and Arizona Sen. John McCain are hosting the cocktail reception Wednesday night in Waukesha. The event comes just hours after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie campaigns with Thompson in Green Bay.
The fundraiser costs $250 per person.
Also on Wednesday, Karl Rove’s political action group announced a new $1.2 million ad buy with a spot attacking Baldwin as supporting tax increases. The group Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies has spent $5 million on the race since mid-August.
Thompson also has launched a new spot attacking Baldwin’s position on Medicare.
