Mary L Recker
Mary L. Recker, age 70, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on Nov. 8, 1947 in Appleton, Wis., the daughter of Cyril and Emmaline (Merkel) Fisher. Mary worked at Humana for 33 ½ years prior to her retirement in April 2013. She graduated from St. Joseph Grade School in 1962 and Xavier High School, in Appleton, in 1966. Mary was a greeter at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. She loved to walk, read mystery books, camping in Three Lakes, Wis. Mary loved attending all of her grandkids athletic events along with their other events.
Mary is survived by her children, Allen Recker (fiance Kathleen Lanham) and Andrea Gevelinger; grandchildren, Emmaline and Tanner Gevelinger, Jordan, Taylor, Payton and Zoe Recker; bonus grandchild, Luke Lanham; siblings, Nancy (Dennis) Nelson, Charles (Joyce) Fisher; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017 with Father Robert Evenson presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. A luncheon will follow the Mass. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton. Mary would like to thank Dr. Sam Lubner for giving her extra time with her family and to Nurse Laura, Sandy Burn and all other nurses at the Carbone Chemo Clinic. Mary also extends a very special thank you to her sister, Nancy, who was with her for her chemo treatments and also to Pat Thielbar, Pat Nye, Annette, Sherry, Delores, Jane and Mike. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary’s name to Carbone Cancer Center or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com
