Mary Jane Maier

Mary Jane Maier, age 85, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022. She was born on July 30, 1937, in Baraboo, the daughter of Gerald and Blanche (Hynek) Fike.

Mary Jane graduated from Sauk City in 1955. She went on to work for Dental Health from 1956-1960 then spent 1960-1978 as a mother raising her two sons. She returned to the workforce at the Veterans Hospital in Madison Canteen in 1979, retiring in 1990.

Mary Jane was a friend to many. She loved her time with her friends she met at Rosewood Senior Living, from her wine nights to her Badgers and Packers Parties she would take part in. Mary Jane loved helping setting up the Saturday Mass at Rosewood and decorating the community room. She could often be found in the community room at the puzzle table. Along with all this, Mary Jane’s greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary Jane loved tag sales and antiquing. She always found a treasure she would pass on to a friend or family member. She enjoyed dinners, cookouts and special time at her son, Scott, and daughter-in-law, Colleen’s home. Traveling to the lake in the Northwoods became a recent favorite for Mary Jane with her son, Steven and daughter-in-law, Kristin. Our Family will miss her knack for baking her famous Zucchini Muffins/bread, oatmeal raisin cookies, key lime pie, along with so much more. All were made and given to loved ones.

Tom) Sanford and Dorothy Russell; granddaughter, Crystal (Ryan) Dostalek; grandsons, Nicholas, Jarrett and Eric Maier; great-grandchildren, Blake, Samira and Mason Dostalek; as well as many relatives and friends. Mother. Some may seek riches, others seek fame. Some long for the world, to honor their name. But I’m content to keep what I already hold. The love of my MOTHER, which is riches untold. Unknown Author
