Mary Ann Horstmeier

MONONA-Born Jan. 25, 1934, in Madison, to Gertrude (Bergman) and Peter Wittrock. Died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, with loving husband of 57 years by her side. Mary Ann attended Holy Redeemer Grade School and graduated from Madison Central High School in 1952. She married her high school sweetheart on May 30, 1955, at St. Patrick’s Church. Mary Ann worked for the State of Wisconsin and Monona Grove School District Office, retiring in 1996.

She is survived by her husband, Paul H. Horstmeier of Monona; children, Deb (Carl) Ruedebusch of Madison, Jeff (Rita) and their children, Joe, Nic, Jake, and Alexia of Random Lake, Doug (Cindy) of Madison, Greg (Beth) and their children, Gabby and Will of Cottage Grove, Ann (Mike) Lane of Madison, Paula Baumann and her children, Theron and Tenley of Monona, and Nancy (Ed) Hixon and their daughter, Rachel of Madison. She is further survived by her sisters, Louise (Gene) Bjornstad of Girdwood, Alaska., Catherine Howley of Wauwatosa, and Elizabeth Wittrock of Merrimac; brothers-in-law, Robert (Marty) Horstmeier of Waukesha and Laurence (Betsy) Horstmeier of Arena; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John; and infant brother, Peter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY PARISH, 5101 Schofield Street, Monona, at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m, on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or Alzheimer’s and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin.

The family would like to thank Dr. Karen Lentfer and her assistant Kristel, Dr. Sarah Lowry, Dr. Leila Midelfort of Wildwood Clinic, the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, and the exceptional staff and volunteers at Agrace HospiceCare.
