Mary A. Haarklau

MADISON-Mary A. Haarklau, age 87, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017.

She was born on Sept. 29, 1929, in Neshota, Wis., the daughter of Rhyna and Mary (Pionke) Everett. Mary married Jerome Haarklau on April 24, 1954, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Monona. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church for over 60 years.

Mary helped to raise so many generations of children for over 30 years doing in-home daycare, spoiling them with hugs, kisses, jello jigglers, playing never ending games and the best chocolate chip cookies on the planet. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, bowling and doing puzzles, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her son, Ronald (Donna) Haarklau, Sun Prairie; daughters, Linda (Wesley) Templeton, Madison, Patricia (John) Johnson, Kendall, and Sharon (Scott) Dolphin, Madison; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jon) Baker, Carrie (Reid) Wells, Jeff (Allison VanRooy) Templeton, Amie (Tom) Reynolds, Sara (Tom) Bell, Jennifer Templeton, Pamela Muller, Rebecca (Daniel) Thompson, Mary (Jon Hanson) Johnson, Emily (Clint) Templeton, Casey (Madie King) Dolphin, and Anna Dolphin; and 16 great-grandchildren plus one due in late summer; sister, Helen Jacobson; brother Arnold Everett; two sisters-in-law Joan Kojo, Beverly Lisk; brother-in-law, Les Vale; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; grandson Mark Templeton; brothers, Martin, Richard, Frank, and Raymond; sisters, Betty, Rose, Louise, Alice, and Millie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017, with Father Michael Radowicz presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens.
