Marvin L. Kittoe, 87, of Platteville died on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Platteville United Methodist Church. Rev. Brenda Whitford will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville, where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #5274. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. Memorial may be made to the Platteville Community Food Pantry in Marvin’s name. Marvin was born on May 24, 1925 in Benton, Wisconsin, the son of LaVerne and Cordelia (Letcher) Kittoe. He was united in marriage to Blanche Bartels on August 6, 1951 in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death on June 17, 1981. Marvin served in the United States Army. Marvin owned and operated Kittoe’s Salvage for many years, which he started in 1946. He was a member of American Legion Post #42, Platteville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and a cold beer at the end of a hard day’s work.

He is survived by his children, Carol Ann Gundry of Escanaba, MI; Liz Farrey of Shullsburg, WI; Vicki (Mike) Stanton of Sycamore, IL; Donna (Larry) Foley of Shullsburg; Connie (David) Millard of Colona, IL; Ronald Kittoe of Platteville; Ricky (Julie) Kittoe of Belmont, WI; Diana (Rory) Silvers of Platteville; 30 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean McPhail of Platteville; Darlene (Richard) Coulthard of Janesville, WI; brother, Kenneth Kittoe of Tennessee.
