Marvin H. Dennis
Marvin H. Dennis, age 71, of Carson City, NV, died Saturday, Nov 15, 2014, at Agrace Hospice in Janesville. He was born in Salisbury, MD on July 21, 1943, the son of the late Marvin “Mike” and Elizabeth (Smith) Dennis. Marvin grew up in Salisbury and Delmar, living most of his high school years with the late Carlton and Ethel Bratten. He was a 1961 graduate of Wicomico High School. As a teen, he attended the Delmar Wesleyan Church, where he found Christ as his Savior under the Rev. Paul D. Dieter. Pastor Dennis graduated from United Wesleyan College in Allentown, PA in 1966 and began his ministerial service in January of 1966.
He has been serving as a pastor for 46 years, as well as an evangelist, teacher and school administrator. Pastor Dennis also attended Glassboro State College, Accelerated Christian Education, University of Wisconsin, Christian Law Association, Christian Counseling Ministries, Bill Graham School of Evangelism, was named in Who’s Who in Kansas of 1975, Outstanding Young Man of America in 1980, Outstanding United Wesleyan Alumni’s of 1982 and received his Doctorate of Divinity degree from Jamenson Christian College in 1985 presented by Dr. Basil Jackson, PhD., MD., ThD and DL. Pastor Dennis pastored in New Jersey, Kansas, Wisconsin and Nevada. He founded the Abundant Life Christian School and was President of Abundant Life Ministries, Inc. in Janesville. He retired from the Carson City, NV church after serving for 26 years. Pastor Dennis served his communities as Police and Sheriff’s Chaplain, Hospital Chaplain, and the Nevada Sate Legislature Chaplain as well as serving on various boards. He has served as the Chaplain for the Wisconsin Express AAA NFL Football team.
Pastor Dennis is survived by: his wife, Shelley Goodrich Dennis; 1 daughter, Pamela Jean (Tim) Hogan; 2 step sons, Joshua P. Williams and Nicholas Williams; 6 grandchildren: Kristin, Sarah, Emma and Josiah all of Tucson, AZ and Benjamin and Andrew Williams of Janesville; 3 great grandchildren of Tucson, AZ; an aunt, Lois Mills of Salisbury, MD . He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Donald H. Dennis and Edwin Dennis.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at 2:30 pm at the Schneider Apfel Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Janesville. Friends may call on Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at the Schneider Apfel Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron, MD. Funeral Services will also be held on Thursday, Nov 20, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury, MD.
