Martha Lee Erickson
MADISON-Martha Lee Erickson passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017.
She was born on January 14, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio. At the age of 6, she was adopted by Orin Lee and Nancy Wakeman and was welcomed into God’s family by baptism at that time. She was preceded in death by both adoptive parents, as well as her brother-in-law, J.C. Simmons.
Martha graduated from high school in Memphis, Tenn. and then spent the next 11 years living and working in Switzerland, Germany, and England. In the late 1970’s she moved to Manitowoc, and later to Madison. Her friendships spanned several countries, and her ability to recall experiences and tell stories was a pleasure to all.
She is survived by her son, Neil Alexander Carr of Washington; her brother, Keith (Mary) Wakeman of Manitowoc; her sister, Carol Simmons of Memphis, Tenn. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Chris Fulk and Amanda Simmons, Aaron (Cora) Wakeman, Andrew (Autumn) Wakeman, Rachel (John) Kamin, and Allyson Wakeman; an also leaves four grand-nieces and nephews.
A gathering of remembrance will take place at GREENTREE GLEN, 732 Struck St., Madison on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until noon. All friends and family are welcome.
The family is grateful for her many friends and for the “surrogate grandchildren” in her love and care. Loved ones are also grateful for God’s gift of an open tomb and the eternal life he has promised to all believers.
