Marquette Returns To NCAA Tournament
The NCAA men’s basketball tournament seeds are set and Marquette University is a No. 3 seed in the West Region.
The Golden Eagles play Thursday in its opening round in Louisville. They won’t know who their opponent is until after a Tuesday night play-in game between Iona and BYU.
“We’ve never had that issue, so we’re trying to be efficient and effective in how we think through preparation for them,” said coach Buzz Williams. “I don’t think seeding matters when you get to a tournament. I think your body of work gets you the seed, but once your seed is established it’s win or go home.”
“Get a (No.) 3 seed. That’s big for us as a program. We fought hard this season, and it’s well deserved,” said Vander Blue. a sophomore guard for Marquette.
With a win, the Golden Eagles would face the winner of the Murray State-Colorado State game.
Marquette advanced to the second weekend of the tournament last year, and last went to the Final Four in 2003.
