Marilyn R. Smith
MADISON-Marilyn Ruth (Habich) Smith, age 90, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Mary’s Care Center.
She was born on March 30, 1926, the daughter of Adolph and Mabel (Anderson) Habich in Madison. Marilyn graduated from Madison East High School in 1943. She married Richard Smith on July 21, 1946.
Marilyn worked for many years in food service for Winnequah Elementary School. She was a long time member of Monona Lutheran Church. Marilyn enjoyed sewing, cooking, and cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her two sons, Michael (Karen) Smith and Scott (Debbie Beich) Smith; daughter, Nancy (Stephen) Kaech; four grandsons, Brice Smith, Shaun Smith, Ryan Kaech and Brady Smith; one granddaughter, Natalie Streeter; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Nancy (Kenneth) Jevens; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; sister, June (Harry) Beetham; and brothers, Alden Habich, Adolph Habich and William Habich.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Monday, April 3, 2017, with Pastor Gary Lewis Presiding. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
