WAUNAKEE-Marilyn Chase-Werner, age 84, of Waunakee, Wis. passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Waunakee Manor.
She was born on Dec. 21, 1929, in Rockford, Ill, the daughter of John and Ruth Barber. Marilyn married David A. Chase on Dec. 4, 1948, in Rockford. He predeceased her in April of 1990. She married John F. Werner in March of 1992 and he predeceased her in June of 2013. Marilyn was a Salvation Army officer for 43 years. She loved angels and had a collection and program she presented to various women’s groups. Marilyn was named Woman of the Year for St. Joseph, Mo. Business and Professional Women’s Club and “District Woman of the Year” in 1982.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Michael) Murray of Waunakee, Wis.; son, David (Linda) Chase of Moundsview, Minn.; daughter, Patricia Chase of Sante Fe, N.M.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard (Jan) Barber of Rockford; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mildred Kay and Phyllis Edwards; and one brother, Donald Barber.
Funeral services will be held at THE SALVATION ARMY, 500 S. Rockford Ave., Rockford, Ill., at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014, with Major David Moffitt and Lt. Colonel Marlene Chase presiding. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Machesney Park, Ill.
