Marie Ann Silveus

Marie Ann Silveus,”Hollywood,” age 71, passed away on August 17, 2012 at her home in Madison, in the presence of her loving family. Marie was born May 1, 1941 in Bourbon, Indiana, the daughter of William J. and Eleanor G. (Teitsch) Silveus. She was raised on a rustic farm Northwest of Bremen Indiana. Marie worked hard in the mint fields, planting, raising, and harvesting mint for mint oil (spearmint). During Marie’s early years she discovered her passion while doing her grandmother Teitsch’s hair. Marie’s dream was to be a hairdresser.

She graduated from Bremen High School in 1959. Marie was a graduate of Vogue Beauty College, South Bend, IN. and the American Studio of High Fashion, Chicago, IL. Via scholarship in 1960. During this time, she married Larry Baker on June 24, 1960. They moved to Madison to further Larry’s education at UW Madison. Marie was employed at Glenn’s as a Hair Color Specialist from 1963-1971. In February of 1971 she advanced her career by taking the opportunity of a lifetime, as Manager /Style Directress at Manchester’s (SNL New York Chain), The Penthouse Salon, off Capitol Square. She opened her own salon, Marie’s Beauty Walk, 1974 Middleton; she had various locations in the years following. Her professional career spanned 40+ years.

Marie married the love of her life Courtlyn H. Jorgensen on May 20, 1972 at their residence in Middleton, WI. Courtlyn was owner/operator of Time Realty, Inc. in Madison. Court and Marie enjoyed entertaining friends with extravagant soirées. They traveled the world and together discovered Door County, WI which became a lifelong passion of Marie’s.

Marie married Robert Lynge on December 31, 1989, at their Middleton home. They enjoyed dancing, getting lost on long drives, “beer hopping”, and going to hot air balloon rallies.

Marie’s passions included: her children, hot air ballooning, flying kites, walking the beach in Door County, driving her convertible, The Derby, painting, wearing hats of style, and writing her memoirs. Her patriotic spirit shone bright. She brought fun and “glitz” to everyplace she went. She enjoyed meeting people and sharing her truly unique personality. She was beyond doubt “UNFORGETTABLE”.
