Margaret “Marge” Joyce
Waunakee Smiling Marge Joyce, age 72 of Waunakee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Oak Park Place in Middleton. She was born Margaret Anna Trach in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba on March 24, 1940, the daughter of Mary and Fred Trach. She was united in marriage to Hal Joyce at the Gates of Heaven Chapel in Madison in 1980, and she was a loving wife and the love of Hal’s life.
Marge was a lector at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church and for years provided and arranged the flowers for church from her flower gardens. She loved flower gardening and being outdoors. Marge danced with the Westport Squares, was a volunteer at Mendota Mental Health Institute and was a great cook. She will be remembered for her wonderful smile which she shared with everyone. Marge is survived by her husband, Hal Joyce of Waunakee; stepchildren, Joe (Marget) Joyce, Karen (Mark) Mitchell, James (Nancy) Joyce, Steve (Patti) Joyce; her siblings, Emily Shmon, Ed and Frank Trach; six grandchildren, Holly, Nick, Lily, Erin, James, Marissa; and nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, John, Louis, Peter, Sister Fran and Tony Trach. A special thank you goes to Marvin and Irene Fox who gave Marge a place to live when she moved to Madison.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at ST. MARY OF THE LAKE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5460 Mary Lake Road, Westport, with Father Greg Ihm presiding.
Burial will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery followed by luncheon at church.
