Margaret Jeanette McClung
MADISON- Margaret Jeanette Wellman McClung passed away on Monday October 27, 2014.
She was born on November 13, 1921 in Port Huron, Michigan to the late Charles and Claribel Wellman.
Margaret graduated from Port Huron High School in 1939 and from Michigan State Teachers’ College in 1943 with a degree in Special Education. After graduation, she taught in several Michigan schools. She married John LaFrance McClung on September 1, 1945 and they were married for 65 years.
Margaret was a member of Orchard Ridge United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School and served on many committees. She loved to knit, sew and do counted cross stitching. She knit more than 120 Christmas stockings which are cherished by family and friends throughout the United States and Iceland. John and Margaret loved to travel including Elderhostel trips and visits to Iceland.
Margaret is survived by her children Jeanette (Gregory) Alff of Bozeman, Montana, Donald (Ann Harvell) McClung of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mark (Suzanne Clark) McClung of Portage, Wisconsin, and Daniel (Tracie) McClung of Merrimac, Wisconsin. Three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, also her sister, Claribel Samuelson and Margaret’s Icelandic family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John L. McClung and her siblings.
There will be private graveside services held at the garth of the Orchard Ridge United Church of Christ.
