MADISON, Wis. — Marcus Johnston passed away at the age of 29 on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in Madison. He was born on Feb. 3, 1988, in Madison, the son of Steve Johnston and Marlene McGuire. Marcus graduated from La Follette High School in 2006, and went on to work in the automotive field and in freelancing computer services. Marcus grew up with three siblings, and spent much of his childhood biking, fishing, exploring the outdoors, catching frogs and playing video games. He was an admirer of astronomy and had a fascination for supernovae explosions. Marcus enjoyed applying his knowledge in computers and cars by offering his talents to help friends and family members. He also found excitement in Frisbee golf, traveling and creating new recipes. Marcus’ favorite color was green.
Marcus is survived by his parents; three sisters, Stephanie Johnston, Annamarie Johnston and Cari Wimer; brother, James Johnston; one niece; many nephews; grandmother, Barbara McGuire; aunts, Naomi Rivers and Ann (Brian) Lokken; uncle, John (Truphosa) McGuire; and cousins, Jessica (Brad) Johnston-Looze, Joshua (Rebekah) Rivers, Jacob Rivers, Caitlyn Rivers, Megan Rivers, Mikel Kind, Meshan Adams, Jonathan Martin and Jalea Schmid. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James McGuire; grandmother, Lois Rivers; and aunt, Laura Rivers.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, on Monday, May 15, 2018, at 4 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
